Urban and Regional Planning

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

(a)  UTME Admission

Admission into the department is mainly through the UTME. The entry requirement is 5 credits at not more than two sittings in SSCE, WASSCE, NECO, or its equivalent in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two subjects from Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science, Economics and Technical Drawing. The prospective Candidate must have at least a pass in Physics.

UTME Subjects:

English Language, Mathematics and any two from Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Geography.

 

(b)  Direct Entry Admission

In addition to fulfilling the requirement for (a) above, candidates seeking admission to 200 Level shall possess any of the following:

i. Advanced level passes in at least two of the following: Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Physics and Chemistry; and

ii. National Diploma (ND) at Upper Credit in Town and Regional Planning.

  PGD in Urban and Regional Planning Admission Requirements

Applicants should be:

  • Holders of first degree in Environmental Studies, Social Sciences and Engineering among others (with the exemption of holders of B.ED degree)
  • Holders of HND with a minimum of Upper Credit pass in Town Planning
  • Holders of HND with Lower Credit Pass in Town Planning with a minimum of three (3) years of working experience in Town Planning related fields. In addition, an applicant may be required as a condition for admission to undergo a selection process.
  • M.Tech in Urban and Regional Planning  Admission Requirements

    Applicants for the M.Tech programme in addition to satisfying the general university regulations for admission should possess any of the following qualifications:

  • B.Tech degree in Urban and Regional Planning with at least Second Class honours of the Federal University of Technology, Akure or its equivalent from other recognised Universities.
  • B.Sc degree with a minimum of Second Class honours in Social Sciences or approved related disciplines.
  • A full professional or postgraduate diploma in Urban and Regional Planning with at least Upper Credit grade.
  • Ph.D in Urban and Regional Planning Admission Requirements

    An applicant of the Ph.D degree in Urban and Regional Planning must possess M.Tech (Urban and Regional Planning) degree of Federal University of Technology, Akure or MURP, M.Sc in Urban and Regional Planning of other recognised Universities; and attain a weighted average of at least 60% or minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point grade.
